#12 멜의 언니 조와 멜의 통화

Mel; Hi, Joe.

Joe; Is that a a baby?

Mel; Yeah, somebody left her on doc's doorstep this morning. 

Joe; OMG, it's terrible.

Mel; She's hungry, and i can't get her to take a bottle. I've tried everything. I don't know what else to do. 

Joe; Is there anyone who can come help you?

Mel; No, i've tried everything and it's... it's the worst feeling. She's hungry and i can't comfort her. 

Joe; Are you sure this is a good idea? There has to be someone that can at least come give you a break. 

Mel; Wait, I'm not that fragile. You need to stop worring about me so much. 

Joe; It's in my DNA. 

Mel; You know, i'm a midwife, right? Babies are my job. 

Joe; I get that, but you can do your job here. 

Mel; I put in my notice, ok?

Joe; Oh thank god.  I'll make up the guest room for you. You can come in as late as you want. 

Mel; No, i told hope that i'd wait until they found a replacement. Joe, you know, when i do leave, i'm not coming back to LA. 

Joe; What are you talking about? Of course you're coming back. 

Mel; No, joey, there's too many memories there. 

Joe; no, this is your home. You have family and friends here who love you. (You don't understand). You're right, I don't. I don't understand why you're pushing everyone away. It's like you don't wanna feel better. 

Mel; No, it's not about that, ok? You're always trying to fix my life, and my life cannot be fixed. You don't get that, i can't help you. I gotta go. (일방적으로 끊어버림).

Mel; Joey, is that me or you in Mama's arems?

J; I'm over with dad by the train. 

M; So, mama's holding me? I was a really fat baby. How come you look so little? (언니가 앨범을 덮어버리자) Hey, go back. (No). Why? I wanna see what's on that page. 

J; No, i'll get in trouble. 

M; We're best friends. You can tell me. Plz. 

J; Fine. Mom's not holding you in that picture. It's our sister, Chloe. She died before you were born.

M; We had a sister? 

J; Yeah, but don't tell mom i told you. She'll get really mad. 

M; I'll never tell. I promise. Corss my heart, hope to die. I love you joey. 

J; i love you too, squirt.
